What is a maintenance appointment?
Most clients do not lose any or many bonds, and therefore go the full
12 weeks without seeing me.
However, if your natural hair is prone to shedding, or you lose 20+ bonds, then you may require a top up.
Hair can be added, to replenish your extensions mid-way through, and ensure you get the full wear from your new hair.
Removal
When to get extensions removed
We recommend hair extensions are worn for approximately 3 months.
Some clients replace their extensions every 6 weeks, and others every 4-5 months.
When you need your hair extensions removed depends on a number of factors:
- Type of hair and application method
- Speed of natural hair growth
- Your lifestyle and aftercare routine
- If your hair is matting or bonds are sticking together (neither should happen with correct aftercare)
- How many bonds you’ve lost
If you’ve had your extensions fitted with us, then you’ll receive a reminder text/email around the 10 week mark. If you want to keep your extensions in over 12 weeks then there’s no need to book in until you’re ready.
If you’re unsure then we offer free check-up appointments at any stage, and I’ll happily give honest advice as to whether I recommend removal or if I think you can go a few extra weeks.
Can you replace on the same day?
Yes. Most clients have their extensions removed, and new ones fitted on the same day. The total service is usually 2-4 hours. If you prefer, you can wait a few days or weeks between sets, to give your hair a break or to attend a cut or colour appointment.
Can I reuse the hair again?
Reusing your hair extensions depends on how you’ve taken care of them and the quality following the initial wear. We can advise on this and make recommendations. If possible, we recommend reusing hair – it’s better for the planet and for your wallet!
You didn't fit my extensions, can you still help?
Although we usually advocate returning to your original stylist or salon for removal, we understand this isn’t always possible. Therefore, we can still remove your hair extensions, even if you didn’t have them fitted by bond. Please contact us first so we can assess what method you have in, and discuss the best route for removal or maintenance.
